That Week in JJ Pearce Track and Field
16-Mar-2020 Spring Break
What an awesome meet we had this last week!! It was really nice to leave a meet with a big envelope full of medals. Our varsity boys team finished in 1st at the meet this week! This is huge as we look forward to our district meet. All of our teams performed well and we were happy to see even more PRs set this week. To view some meet photos go to the Media Library. To see the full results go to https://results.fttiming.com/meets/5808. or here on Athletic.net with the other meet results.
We will not be holding spring break workouts, but Linked below we do have workouts for our Athletes to follow on their own time while we are out for break. There is a workout for sprints, mid-distance, and distance. Our school track is a public track so feel free to come use that for workouts! Please make sure you are working out over break as our district meet will only be a week and a half away when/if we get back and we want to perform our best at all times. Spring_Break_Workouts.docx
ALL athletes were asked to clean out their lockers today and take everything home including their locks so that the locker rooms can be deep cleaned while we are out. Please check that your athlete has done this when they leave school today.
We will send out another email later next week once we know more about cancellations/closings. Until then, enjoy your break and please be looking for emails/remind texts from me with any updates. To join the remind, text @jjptrack2b to 81010.
Wishing all y'all a wonderful, well-deserved break and hoping to see you all in a week or two!
What a tough meet this last week! It was great to compete against some of the best teams in the state and see our athletes getting more personal records! Here are the results from the meet:

It was great watching us compete in our first meet this weekend! We showed a lot of potential for this season and are looking forward to get to work on continuing to improve each week. The results for the meet are posted here: https://www.athletic.net/TrackAndField/meet/387225/results Please note the JV and Varsity results are switched. Hopefully the error will be fixed.
Our next meet is this Friday and Saturday. It is hosted by McKinney ISD at Ron Poe Stadium. Those who are competing in an event on Friday will need to go to A lunch on Friday and then we will leave after that. You will be excused 4th-7th period. If you are competing on Saturday, we will be leaving Pearce at 6:30 am so please arrive before that time. Our next meet will be the Ben Robertson Relays at Hanby Stadium in Mesquite on Saturday 2/22. Athletes need to communicate with their coaches (if they haven't already) if they cannot attend. It will be an all day event and the meet is ALL relays and field events. Some events are varsity only, so we will be making decisions on who will get to compete in this meet. Athletes will know no later than practice Wednesday if they will be competing. The first bus will have all field events and the 4x1600m athletes and will leave at 7 am from PHS. All other athletes will leave on the second bus from PHS at 11:30 am. Here is the information about the meet: Benrobertson_Time_Schedule_20.doc
We highly encourage athletes to stay for the entire meet to support their teammates. However, if an athlete needs to leave the meet early with a parent, the parent needs to email me stating that by noon this Friday. The parent will also need to find Coach Murray either at pole vault or in the stands near our team camp to sign out the athlete.
Please don't forget to pay the one-time $10 snack fee so that you can enjoy all the snacks we provide at the meets all season! Here is the link to do so: https://pearceathletics.membershiptoolkit.com/packet/46897

We have team pictures this Thursday at 6:45 am. This year we decided to take several group photos rather than just one team photo or individuals that were made into composites. Athletes will be grouped into sprinters, hurdlers, mid-distance, distance, jumpers, and throwers. If you order a team photo, then that is what you will receive. IF YOU WANT AN INDIVIDUAL OF YOUR STUDENT, THEN PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR STUDENT KNOWS THAT! We will NOT have everyone taking individual photos as in recent years... only those who want one. I have some paper order forms or you can order photos here: https://order.lifetouchsports.com/index.cfm?event=OrderHome&contractID=174052&utm_source=ExactTarget&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Sports_PrePDSchool_Host10
